Your Next Season

Life After College Athletics: Your Next Season Starts Here

A practical next-step guide for student-athletes and college athletes approaching graduation or the end of competitive sport.

What comes after college sports?

Graduation can end two structures at once: school and competitive sport. That can create freedom and uncertainty at the same time. The useful response is not to rush into the first available identity. It is to deliberately build the next target.

Recognize the structure you are losing

Classes, practice, travel, strength sessions, competition and coaching created a built-in calendar. After graduation, nobody may hand you the next program. That is not a reason to abandon structure; it is a reason to choose which structure still serves you.

Build from assets, not from a blank page

You are leaving college athletics with more than a degree and a sports résumé. You may have developed teamwork, preparation, accountability, public communication, performance under pressure and strong relationships. Write them down and prove each with a specific example.

Run 90-day experiments

You do not need to choose the perfect lifelong career immediately. Choose a direction worth testing, define what you want to learn, and create a 90-day plan around conversations, applications, projects, skill building or revenue tests. Evidence is more useful than endless thinking.

Keep the parts of being an athlete that still work

You do not need to discard training, competition, health routines or friendships just because your formal playing career changes. Keep what supports the person you are becoming and remove what only existed because somebody else’s schedule required it.

A simple next move

Do not try to solve your entire future today. Write down the strongest assets A built in you, choose one direction worth testing, and decide on one action that creates new information. A conversation, application, project, offer, course or meeting can move B out of your head and into the real world.

The AB Plan is built around one idea: A wasn't wasted. A built you. Now put it to work.

WHAT'S YOUR B?

You know what A was.
